Shapes in Photoshop are great tool for creating logos, Icons and buttons. Graphics created with shapes can be called vectorised one since they can be altered to any size with out loosing its quality. Another important factor using shapes is they can modify any time.
Please note the following points while creating Icons using Shape tool.
(1) You can combine many different shapes in to one shape on same layer by holding down shift key while drawing a shape over other shapes. The Shape A in picture1 above are combination of two shapes of C and D as shown.
(2) While drawing shapes set the foreground color of the shape white. To set a 1 pixel black lines around your shapes double click on layer to open a blending option dialogue box. Set stroke strength to 1 pixel instead default Setting 3.
(3) To fill the colors in to shapes double click inside shape layer thumbnail as shown in the Pic-6. When you double click inside the shape thumbnail window. it opens color picker window where you can give your favorite colors to shapes.
(4) To apply bevel and emboss effects to the graphics on layers, double click on layer to open a blending option dialogue box, Click on bevel and emboss Tab and click ok to apply the style to graphic. The example Car Icon is having default blending options.
(5) Right click on to the styles applied layer to open options menu. Chose copy the layer style option. Again right click on other layer and chose paste layer style option from options menu.
(6) To move all graphics together link them by click inside the blank space beside Eye Icon in the layer palette.
Right click on the image and select "Save Target As...".
