Camcorders, laptops and desktop PCs combined with 3D glasses are examples of what you can expect to bring this revolutionary technology to the masses. 3D technology started to gain recognition among consumers since 1980’s, but we could say that this method had remained dormant for quite some time. Fortunately, latest development of the technology has encouraged not only its rebirth, but also gives it a renewed energy.
3D Camcorder
Panasonic launched a camcorder, the HDC-SDT750, that can record in AVCHD format using special 3D glasses. It is equipped with a wide range of advanced features, including a 3MOS system, characterized by an improved technology for dust reduction (NR), ability to record 1080/60p, iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode to help creating good videos, the new HYBRID OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), which provides crisp and clear high-definition video and useful manual controls.
The highly sensitive 3MOS system offers 7,590,000 effective motion image pixels. The high pixels count combined with the NR technology can achieve bright images with minimal noise when taking photos or videos in low light. All of this allows excellent reproduction, high resolution, smooth color gradations and allows you to capture vivid images in places with too little or too much light.
It can be used with a VIERA 3D capable devices (which require 3D playback, 3D glasses and HDMI cable connection), player/recorder, and Blu-ray drives. The HDC-SDT750 makes it possible to capture precious moments with family and friends and then enjoy them from the comfort of your home.
3D Laptop
The Toshiba Satellite A665 3D Edition can enhance the gaming experience and it is the first to incorporate new Sleep & Music mode, it allows you to listen to the music even with the computer completely switched off.
The notebook has a 120Hz 15.6-inch 3D TruBrite HD screen and comes with 3D glasses. It is powered by Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTS 350M which provides pretty decent performance on latest 3D games. You can also connect a Blu-ray drive to increase the entertainment options.
3D Desktop
With the goal of bringing 3D entertainment to the household, NVIDIA and major PC makers, such as, Alienware, Asus, Dell, Microsoft and Toshiba are working together to develop a new 3D desktop.
The new product called 3D PC with NVIDIA’s new 3D Vision, which is an integration of a graphics processing unit (GPU), a specialized 3D glasses, software, and 3D monitor allows users to dive into a 3D experience on their PCs
Roughly speaking, a 3D desktop has a few main parts: a pair of 3D glasses with active shutter (like the NVIDIA 3D Vision kit), a 3D solution that delivers full resolution for each eye, a 120 Hz 3D display (it can be a CRT monitor, a 3D projector, a 3D TV or LCD screen with integrated 3D capability) and a discrete graphics processor that is capable of displaying high definition 3D screen.
The acceptance of this technology by the general public is largely due to the explosion of 3D content that we are seeing today from the Hollywood movies and 3D sports broadcasts. You can play 3D games using NVIDIA 3D Vision and visit sites that support 3D technology. NVIDIA has been working with Adobe and Microsoft to make it possible to transmit live video in 3D. And since the industry is showing a renewed interest in 3D technology, what remain is to buy PC components that support this capability.
