User Interface
The first impression of AOMEI Backupper is quite refreshing and pleasing because of the dark blue background color. The layout is straightforward and clear. The left part of the operating interface always shows the main options while the right-hand side is for showing some detailed information of the target in the process. No fancy and complicated designs but focus on the usability and user experience.
Main Functions
AOMEI Backupper has three main functions: Backup, Restore and Clone.
For the backup features, this freeware allows the users to backup system, partitions or an entire disk. Advanced options such as encryption, VSS, and select compression level can all be set up before the backup process begins. As for the destination path to store the backup image, AOMEI Backupper supports almost all the storage devices such local hard drive, NAS devices, external USB devices or CD/DVD/Blu-ray.
In version 1.6, we can set up a backup schedule for AOMEI Backupper to perform the backup task periodically. Also, AOMEI Backupper supports UEFI boot, GPT disk and dynamic volumes with the upgrade of version 1.6.
If any problem occurs on our hard drive, we can recover it by using the backup image which store on local hard drive, external storage devices and CD/DVD/Blu-ray. But what if the system crashes that makes us unable to access Windows? Don’t worry, we can still boot AOMEI Backupper in WinPE.
For the clone function, it could be very helpful when we get a new hard drive. Using the clone function to copy the partitions and the entire disk to another disk is a piece of cake in AOMEI Backupper. Please be advised that the target disk must have larger storage than the source disk.
Concluding Thoughts
AOMEI Backupper version 1.6 is easy-to-use, powerful and reliable. Though it does not support file level backup at this moment, but being a freeware, it’s definitely one of the best Windows backup utilities one can find on the market. We sincerely recommend this software to all Windows users.
