The HTC ChaCha was released in June of 2011. The phones biggest accomplishment seems to be the fact that it has a quick launch Facebook button. The button offers Facebook lovers quick access to their favourite social media platform.
The phone is available in both silver and black. The device is an average size. It is 4.5 inches in length, 2.54 inches in width, and 0.42 inches thick. The device weighs approximately 120 grams; light enough to be comfortable keep it in your pocket. The phone is a candybar styled phone. The front of the phone has a capacitive touch screen with four main buttons. The four main buttons are the home, menu, back and search buttons. Below the screen is a 4-row QWERTY keyboard. Slightly above the keyboard are the send and end call buttons. Below the QWERTY keyboard is the ever so famous Facebook button that has a direct connection to Facebook. On the left side of the phone there is a volume switch and a microUSB port. On the top there is a power/lock button and there is nothing on the right side of the phone. The back is quite bare except for the camera and the flash. The phone itself is slanted towards the end to make it more comfortable to use when talking.
The HTC ChaCha has a 2.6 inch capacitive touch display. It is covered by scratch and smudge resistant Gorilla glass. The phone features a proximity sensor that allows for the phone to turn off automatically if it is left unattended for a certain period of time. The touch screen is also a multi-touch screen. There is also a light sensor on this device. The light sensor is basically an auto-brightness feature. Auto-brightness means that the light sensor will adjust the screens backlight depending on how well lit up the environment is around it. Both the light sensor and the proximity sensor help maintain battery life in the device.
The operating system on this phone is Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, which is the most recent Android operating system. It runs on an 800 MHz Single core, Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor. In terms of storage, the phone has 1024MG of built in storage. It can also handle a 32 GB microSD card. Furthermore, the device comes with the latest version of Bluetooth (i.e.Bluetooth 3.0). It also has a built in GPS as well as a compass.
The camera is a 5 megapixel camera. It has an LED flash and has auto-focus for the user’s convenience. The camer can also capture high quality videos. In addition to the 5 megapixel camera, there is a 0.3 front-facing VGA camera. This camera is generally used for self-portraits and video calling.
The battery equipped in the HTC ChaCha is a 1240 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery. The user can get approximately 7 hours of talk time and 430 hours of standby time out of the device. Of course, the user would get more time out of their device after general use than straight talk time.
