The HTC merge was released on April 29th 2011. It is also known as the HTC Lexikon and the HTC ADR6325. It is mostly known for its incredible high definition screen.
It is black and a blue silver color with minor red colouring on the front and on the keys. It slides open in to a QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is great because the keys are big and they are separated. This means that the user can press the key they want instead of the key they want in addition to five others. When closed the device is 4.75 inches in length, 2.40 inches in width, and 0.54 inches thick. The device is actually quite heavy weighting in at 198 grams. It is almost 81 ounces heavier than the average phone. The front of the merge is mostly all screen, but there are four capacitive button on the front. The buttons on the front are the typical ones such as home, back, search and menu. The power switch and the 3.5 mm earphone/headset jack are located at the top of the device. On the left you will find a the volume toggle switch as well as a microUSB port. There is nothing on the right, and very little on the back. The back contains the camera and the loudspeaker.
The display screen is something that the HTC Merge is known for. It is a 3.8 inch S-LCD screen. It is a capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The resolution for this device is not average; in fact it is considered high quality and above the displays of other smart phones. It is a multi-touch touch screen which means that it is a lot easier to test with if you test quickly. That said, most prefer the QWERTY keyboard when doing a lot of texting. The screen also has a light sensor to fluctuate its own brightness when needed. It also has a proximity sensor.
The phone has a 800 MHz single core, Qualcomm MSM 7630 processor. Furthermore, it is equipped with Android 2.2 FroYo. It does not have the latest version of Android OS, but most other HTC devices are upgradeable so this one probably is as well.
The camera is a 5 megapixel camera. It has auto-focus as well as an LED flash. What the HTC device is more known for is its video quality. It can capture a video ate 1280 x 720 pixels, which is considered high definition. So With the HD screen and the HD camera, the user can watch their own captured videos in high definition.
The phone comes with a 1400 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery. It is not a very powerful battery in the battery spectrum; however it works for the Merge. Reviewers claim that the user can get almost 7 hours of talk time and 330 hours of stand-by time. The standby time is a little low and suggests that there are applications on during standby that is draining battery life. That said, the talk time is actually considered average for a smart phone.
