Motorola Cliq 2 was introduced at the CES 2011 where this brand new cellphone made its debut. Most people believe that this was a wrong time of introduction and you could only feel sorry for this cell. The reason for this is that despite offering a sleek design and a comfortable keyboard, the cell was launched alongside the amazing Atrix 4G and Droid Bionic.
The reason why those two cells have grabbed the spotlight is their dual core processors and supporting 4G. However, if we review the cell on its own merits, then it’s obvious that this cell does not belong to the league of Atrix 4G and Droid Bionic are. Carrier T-Mobile did a great job in promoting this cell but the competition at the CES 2011 was so fierce that the other two editions left their sibling behind.
If we compare this edition of Motorola Cliq 2 with that of the original Cliq then you could see a change in the thickness of the cell. Motorola Cliq 2 offers you a new and a sleek design with a much better and bigger display. The pricing decision isn’t yet finalized; however it is believed that the phone would be priced at $129, including the service.
In terms of design, Motorola Cliq 2 has maintained the same shape from that of the original Cliq. It has similar keyboard and also the same placement of external slots. The changes, which Motorola thought were essential, have been made in this edition. It now has rounded edges which grant the phone a smart appearance and the shady color around the display offers a more sophisticated expression. The dimensions of the cell are 4.56inches long, 2.34 inches wide and weigh around 6.17 ounces. It has a display of 3.7 inches which has a resolution of 854×480 pixels which gives it a much vibrant look.
Since now most Motorola cells run the Froyo OS, this helps in offering the latest updates to users which maximizes their satisfaction from the purchase they have made. For instance, if we look at the popularity of voice calling over Bluetooth, then it’s obvious to see how Froyo is being preferred by most users.
With the new trend of mass customization, Motorola Cliq 2 now offers you seven home screens which you can customize according to your needs. It also has the shortcuts for various features such as programming your contacts, Google search, music player, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Positives: The Motorola Cliq 2 provides Froyo Os, spacious keyboard, seven different home screen, large display, great call quality.
Negatives: The Motorola Cliq 2 makes it difficult to access the memory card as it’s trapped at the rear of the battery cover, volume level for calls is average.
The Bottom Line: The Motorola Cliq 2 delivers the old shape of Cliq with slight modifications which make it a decent purchase for those who like to use the phone for excess amount of work.
You have better chance grabbing a 1st edition blackberry then getting this piece of sh*t to work.
Even on T-MOBILE’S FORUMS there is people complaining and asking questions. As usual tmobile team has nothing to say that can help other than “call 611″…then you call 611 and they said “i dont know we’ll send you a new one. After 6 new tmobile cliqs 2, its gotten to the point that they KNOW this happens and yet they continue to sell it.
I’ll put it like this…the designers, developers, and people who continue to sell this crap deserve to get punched straight in the face.
