Just hours ago, Apple launched its official Twitter account for the App Store. With just hours of Twitter-life to its credit, the App Store account already has more than 112k followers. However, it is following only 5 users- all iTunes official accounts.
Though Apple and Twitter had long been connected, they have always been cautious about not overriding each other’s functionality. Initially, the only official Apple accounts were for the various iTunes properties that served the purpose of promotions. Later on, Apple tweeted for Ping, the social network within iTunes.
And now, with the App Store Twitter account, Apple has decided to move on to the Twitter platform. If anyone is wondering about the legitimacy of the new account, both iTunes TV and iTunes Music (verified Twitter accounts) has re-tweeted the App Store initial tweet and so, it’s genuine.
The whole concept of using Twitter to send out special deals is impressive. In all terms, the App Store account is sure to be a hit as an unofficial Apple App Store account has about 70,000 followers.
