Samsung Continuum (Verizon Wireless)

1

The Samsung Continuum is more than a device having an ancillary display that is helpful for management and also works as a multitasking device with its incessant drift of information being a less attractive thing for many.

The Samsung Continuum has both good and bad points and the good surely outweigh the bad. The good points of the Samsung Continuum include two displays where one is great for reaching information quickly and for multitasking. The Samsung Continuum has a 5 megapixel camera with an HD video capture option along with a 1 GHz processor. Also the smartphone consists of full wireless options and it can also be used as a mobile hotspot.

However, the bad points include a confined typing experience due to the small screen. Other than that the ticker display of the smartphone is not available for third party applications and the smartphone has Android 2.1 running and Bing as the default search engine. Also, you cannot uninstall preloaded applications and services.

Design

The design of Samsung Continuum is slim and compact with a height measuring 4.9 inches, width of 2.3 inches, thickness of 0.5 inches and a weight of 4.4 ounces. It has curved corners and can easily be gripped and put in the pockets. The finishing of the smartphone is all black with lacquered finishing and has a plastic battery door which is vulnerable to blotches and fingermarks.

The Samsung Continuum is a solid phone with two displays that make it stand out. One display is large and measures 3.4 inches with a Super AMOLED touch screen whereas the other smaller one measures 1.8 inches with Super AMOLED ticker. The Super AMOLED produces great results with a spectacular viewing experience, a strident quality, bright colors and an excellent outdoor view.

It has the Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user interface which is quite responsive and an easier option for first time users. The Samsung Continuum has both the SWYPE and the Android keyboards. The two displays of the smartphone are separated by a small strip which includes the standard Android shortcuts such as Home, Menu, Search and Back. The volume rocker is situated on the left side of the phone along with the Micro USB port whereas the microSD expansion slot and the camera key are situated on the right side. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a power button on the top of the device with the camera and flash on the back side of the phone.

Features and Performance

The features of the Samsung Continuum are similar to those of the Samsung Fascinate that include supporting Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk and other Google services but it does not have Google as its default page. The smartphone features a VZ Navigator, V Cast Music and Videos, Blockbuster Mobile, NFL Mobile, Skype Mobile and Amazon Kindle. Other than that the Samsung Continuum has a speed dial, voice commands, conference calling, a speakerphone, text and multimedia messaging and visual voice mail. It also has GPS, an integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and supports POP3 and IMAP.

The performance of the Samsung Continuum is pretty good and it has a 1,500 Ah lithium ion battery that offers a talk time of 7 hours and standby time of 13 days. The call quality of the smartphone is good and it has a digital SAR rating of 0.70 watts per kilogram along with a Hearing Aid Compatibility Rating of M4.
