Sony Ericsson X10 Xperia is available for Apprx $550 and comes with elegant design, and superb mega pixel camera. The hardware and mega pixel are outstanding but the software is sluggish. Also the Android OS is out dated in style and the phone does not have multi touch facility.
Design and Style
Like the usual Sony’s products this mobile also has attractive profile with curved body and black chrome schema. It is somewhat bigger in size than the ordinary mobiles and hence it is not compact within the hand. Three important buttons for operation are located below the screen. The headphone jack is placed on the top portion of the cell phone along with power and lock keys. In spite of its greater length, the X10 is not flexible and quick in giving outputs.
Like other popular brands Sony also developed its own user interface and named as UX. It has made announcements earlier about both the X10 mini and X1 models was set up with Android operating system with version 1.6 and subsequently upgrade its OS to 2.1 shortly. Times cape application present in UX manages the contacts with email and other social networks and it presents the update with ‘Splines’. But sometimes, it irritates in doing with unwanted information. This is refreshing when compared with the old Android 1.6 but still some essential elements are missing.
Sony Ericsson comes with 8 mega pixel camera and Led flash. It is equipped with practical features like smile detection and touch to focus plan. Latest photos are displayed below the screen so it is easy for you to delete and review the same. It produces extraordinary indoor photos. Out door shots are also superb with colorful images and sharpness. You have the facility to upload the pictures to face book directly from the phone. Its video recording quality is great and it downplays the Android phone in this aspect. Additionally this phone is provided with face recognition technology. You can call your friend by just tapping on his photo in your mobile.
Mediascape in Sony
Mediascape is a feature in Sony related to music and videos. Whenever you open the medias cape it displays the list of songs you heard recently. It shows art album in excellent way. To change your song and music just press ‘infinity’ symbol which will take you to other songs and recordings of the same artist. You Tube HQ are also added to this elegant phone which enables to see high quality videos.
Lethargic Performance
Sony Ericsson X10 is slow in performance when tested on various menus and apps. Often it takes a lot of time to turn on Timescape feature. Apart from that, if you want to install any app its dead slow in launching it. It almost halted when I was signing in accounts of Google. For unlocking the phone, each time you have to press it several times. In my opinion, this slow performance is attributed to Android’s model 1.6 and Times cape. Voices were clear and loud and overall call quality is good. But it inputs all the sound in your background to the other side of the listener. It is difficult to judge whether Xperia X10 will improve its performance if it is upgraded with 2.1.
