Looking for that great household gift? Check out our favourites kitchen gadgets.
Gadgets rule my home. I’m less Alan Bennett and more Stephen Fry. I like living in the modern world and if a gadget can be useful and fun, then you can be sure it’s on my Christmas list.
The Kitchen has long been the home to useful gadgets, but in this article I’m going to take a look at some of the best ones you may not have heard of.
The Boiled Egg and Toast Combo
Without a doubt, the single most important improvement that should be made to a kitchen. I thought cooking breakfast before was easy, but I was clearly wrong. This amazing device will toast your bread, warm your meat and boil/scramble your egg.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but your toast doesn’t end up burned and you don’t end up drinking your eggs, either. Go get one!
The Rapid Drink Chiller
After breakfast – or during, I’m not one to judge – you may decide that it’s time for a little drop of something. Perhaps you receive some good news, perhaps you’re just in the mood; either way, you didn’t think you’d be drinking right now and your bottle of choice is at the unpalatable room temperature.
Oh, well, I guess I’ll just go dry! Wait a minute, you’ve got this neat device which will chill drinks 40 times quicker than your freezer, haven’t you? Commence your celebration of cool.
NB: This device works just as well with non-alcoholic beverages.
The Mini Chocolate Fountain
So, your celebrations started early and now it’s turned into a full blown party. Farmer John’s brought round a punnet of strawberries from his patch (you just can’t stop him), but you’re not sure what to do with them. Why not leave them as they are and dip them in your chocolate fountain?
This gadget is great and always brings a smile to my guests’ faces. Strangely, these smiles tend to fade when I explain how you have to carefully select the fountain to avoid the models which will conk out after a few goes. To avoid my inexplicable party-pooping, simply check reviews first and invest in the one you like.
The Ice Cream Ball
Ok, so there’s a distinctly unhealthy theme to my suggestions, but fun isn’t ever good for you, is it? The ice-cream ball is an excellent way of making Yorkshire puddings… no, sorry, it’s an excellent way of making ice-cream.
All you do is add the ingredients, seal it up then go and play with the ball. Please your guests by turning an irritating game of piggy in the middle into the most exciting desert they’ve had. What’s not to love?
