As the camcorder market is flooded with products from Kodak, Sony, Pure Digital and many more, each company is fighting to carve out a niche for itself. Many new products have been launched but the popularity of Pure digital’s flip series has taken everyone for a ride. Due to its simplistic features and user friendly interface it has risen above the competition.
To counter this popularity wave and to regain its market share, Kodak has launched its Zx1 camcorder which provides many features at a much cheaper price. Attributes of the Kodak Zx1 include:
- Variation in colors to attract different genre of people- it is available in 5 colors including black, pink, blue, red and yellow.
- An attractive design with curves matched to fit into hands comfortably.
- In tune with current fashion trends, which people love, in this price-range?
- At the same time, it’s sturdy and durable. It comes with 2 strong covers which protect the USB, HDMI, and SDHC ports and prevent damage. The camcorder is sturdy enough to make it durable and prevent breakdown and damage from fall.
- Multiple video modes like 60p
- Uses AA batteries
- Records to removable SD/SDHC memory card
- Besides, in the dim light conditions, it showed better picture even when compared to Flip’s UltraHD.
- It also has the advantage of 60fps footage which is much better than any other camcorder.
- And it comes in the package of a wall mounted battery charger, two rechargeable batteries and an HDMI cable all at the mere cost of $150.
But some of the trying features of this camcorder include its complex icons. They are not user-friendly and slightly difficult to understand and to get used to. It also has obtuse interface and here, gets a beating from the Flip series which is very simple to use.
Apart from this, Kodak Zx1 has passed all the rigorous testing conditions required to promote the product. However when tested in bright light conditions, this camcorder faced issues with color temperature with pictures appearing yellowish and fuzzy.
In spite of the above drawbacks when compared to Flip’s ease of use, integrated USB arm and internal memory or with Sony’s swiveling lens, the Kodak’s Zx1 seems a doubtful choice but when you look at its cost-effectiveness (just $149.95 MSRP), fashion savvy, excellent low light picture quality, package of accessories, multiple video modes, durability and relative ease of use, Kodak’s Zx1 is bound to take the market as the ultimate winner.
