The Asus Eee PC 1005PE is the first Netbook with the next-gen Intel Atom N450 CPU. With a superb battery life, this device rates itself quite well. The company, which is practically known for introducing netbooks, it is not very startling to know that Asus makes one of the most amazing notebooks of the market, with the Eee PC 1005 series topping on the list. It has an affordable or rather a low price along with a good and attractive design and a good battery life. These qualities make it a standard for design, style and reference for Netbooks of the entire industry.
Review
The Asus Eee PC 1005PE version is the newest version of Asus, with the first Netbook to have Intel Atom N450 processor. The re-engineering of the Atom podium has thankfully provided this new model, which has said to perform efficiently in its lab test with a running of more than 8 hours on the battery drain test. This for sure was highly impressive!
The Asus Eee 1005PE disdains many recent fashions of Netbook designs, it has a display screen of 10 inches 1,024×600 pixel, Windows Starter 7 and a memory of 1 GB RAM.
Design
The Asus Eee PC 1005PE comes in similar designs of previous 1005 versions except it just has a minor light near the front edge and a lightly curved edge on its top. The battery flicks to the framework of the model causing it to be a little heavy in weight towards the back. It consists of flat outdid, extensively spread out typical Netbook keys with an apparent area of each key smaller than what has been seen in many recent Netbooks. The typing however is very convenient and comfortable as none of the acute keys of its keyboard are non-justified in their miniature.
The touch pad of this device is similar to that of the previous models and need a great improvement, as the rectangle area with raised dots is not built on the proper place, depriving wrist rest. The screen of this model of Asus Eee PC is 1,024×600 pixels, which at times makes you feel restricted when scrolling down lengthy web pages.
Performance
Thanks to the New Intel Atom N450 that ensures both lesser power intake and boosted performance at the same time. The enhanced performance of this model is due to the pairing of the graphics and memory manager on the processor with a new NM10 chipset, this makes it run at a speed of 1.66GHz. The performance of the Asus Eee PC 1005PE is definitely found to be better than that of previous models like N270 and N280 Atom CPUs, but it is slightly different and therefore does not change its understanding of a Netbook function. Infact, the dual core Atom 330 found in the new 12 inch Asus Eee PC 1201N, performed way better as a dual core CPU in a standard multitasking lab test whereas the N450 Atom in the Eee PC 1005PE model performed faster in the iTunes encrypting lab test.
If you talk about this model of the Asus Eee PC series, you won’t find a drastic difference in it but the usage of N450 CPU, revamping the driver and firmware will turn out to be advantageous for it!
