Sony A900 Full Frame
Here comes the Sony Alpha A900 that maintains true down to its retro pentaprism style of more conventional high performing camera. While the A900 benchmarks as the newest for the megapixel loaded in DSLR, two of the latest developments are not featured. These are the Live View and video recorder from Nikon and Canon’s latest high spec DSLRs.

Sony Electronics meet the demands of serious enthusiasts as it stands firm as the foremost manufacturer of camera and the introduction of DSLR-A900 (alpha) further solidifies that, according to its marketing director of digital camera, Phil Lubell. The A900 offers superior functions; dependability and performance maximizing the photographer’s creativity, as it excellently represent the image and sensor processing technologies.

Exmor Sensor

Sony’s team of engineers dealt particularly on large high megapixel sensors rather than incorporating other features as it poses numerous problems.

There are over 6000 convertors from analog to digital in the sensor itself to transmit analog signals to noise-resistant signals at the earliest time possible to keep sound shooting rate and noise reduction.

Exmor sensor produces the unavoidable large image data quantities and to deal with this Sony outfitted a dual image processors to the A900, because of this the shooting speeds up to a commendable five frames per second.

An advanced algorithms on noise reduction is used by Sony’s dual BIONZ processing system to diminish any noise in images especially in receptive ISO. The level applied to decrease noise in the A900 can be adjusted by photographers.

Compatibility of Digital Lens

The Minolta/Sony mounting range of lenses are not as broad as its main rival Canon and Nikon, so to maximize those that are available the A900 contains a number of features.

Though a full frame sensor is in the Sony A900, there are a few sold for the Sony/Minolta system the so-called digital lenses. Their picture matches the lesser dimensions used on most DSLRs for the APS-C image sensor, and they have lenses  smaller in diameter. These lenses are accommodated by the Sony A900 that uses only part of the full frame producing 11 megapixel APS-C size image file on the image information.

Shake Reduction

The Sony A900 outshines many as it reduces the vibration and shake effect of the camera with its sensor shift system. This means that because special lenses are not needed all images on the A900 is very sharp, unlike the lenses with optical shake reduction of Canon and Nikon which are limited in outcome.

Construction

The Sony A900’s design as expected of a flagship DSLR camera caters mostly to serious photographers, as it has a weather sealing on its flaps and buttons for times when no matter what the weather you need to shoot and it has a sturdy but light magnesium chassis. The Sony A900 is an impressive equipment, although attached with the premium lense designed by Carl Zeiss and battery grip option.

Optical Viewfinder

The Sony A900 while tripod mounted does not feature the Live View for convenient composing, instead it has a real viewfinder. This is not a cheap mirror arrangement, but a proper pentaprism that corresponds to the image results 100%.

A form of image preview that aims mainly at exposure settings is in the Sony A900. A RAW preview image is “grabbed” by the camera displayed and processed on the LCD screen, using the intensity of field preview button. The photographer prior to picture taking can check the histogram data, fine tune parameters like exposure compensation and white balance. It does not keep preview images thereby saving capacity of the camera’s memory card.
